What to Do in Subic? Feel the Thrill at Tree Top Adventure

One of the things I always look for when traveling is adventure and thrill. I’m addicted to thrill, so most of the time, when I travel, I have to find an activity to do to get me to feel this. For a place as close to Manila, as Subic is, having Tree Top Adventure just around the corner is a blessing and opportunity in disguise. Trust me, if you have problems, maybe relationships or work, nothing like a visit to this adventure camp will take your mind off your problems… at least for awhile. We all need that, right? This experience came at just the right time. During our visit to Subic, Tree Top Adventure was part of our itinerary, allowing me to experience its rides for the first time. Not only do you get free fresh breeze from the trees and jungle surrounding the area, you also get a thrill of these rides. There’s even one ride where for a split second, you’ll forget to think! But before going on all rides…

For our dinner, we were served with five of their best dishes:   The Crunchy Squid Teriyaki, P349 reminded me of a dish I tasted only in Singapore, in their Hawker’s Street. Encrusted, with quite a finger-licking taste, this dish is definitely a must try – especially for those who are hoping to get some alcoholic drinks or beer from the menu.   The Dynamite Roll, P278, the second type of sushi I’ve tasted besides Tokyo Tokyo and my Dad’s infamous sushi, was delightfully spicy, with your first bite seemingly icy, until your next

Famous especially for their delicious Classic Chicken Barbeque, the Aristocrat Restaurant, since 1936 has continuously been providing delicious dishes to the upscale community. With 10 branches in the Philippines, the Aristocrat restaurant brings its sophisticated menu and affordable dishes to those who love food for royalty. Over 75 years in the business and still, the hard work of Alex and Engracia “Aling Asiang” Reyes is still being celebrated in this indelible icon in the Filipino food industry. During our weekend in discovering the best places to hang and eat in Subic, Aristocrat restaurant was one of our destinations for extreme stomach orgasm. Served with the best dishes, we enjoyed a sumptuous meal that was greatly appreciated after being a few hours off-lunch time. We started our lunch with a delicious bowl of soup, ideal after a cool ride in a van. The famous Chicken barbeque was soft and tasty, especially when dipped in peanut sauce. The serving was also large, a whole chicken on a stick, accentuated with java rice on the side. Other dishes we enjoyed:       Besides a complete meal, we were also treated to their desserts, a definite plus for me because I got to taste their lecheflan – a famous Filipino dessert which I totally love.   I’m pretty sure Aristocrat was able to

A Home Away From Home – Subic Homes Vacation Villas

Located along Binictican at Samahan Heights, Subic Homes specializes in vacation villas that are either for daily rent or for long term leases. Situated in a homey, village-like setting, these villas create a somewhat new kind of home away from home, with a neighborhood, and all the right leisure to accompany your vacation. Subic Homes offers villas with 2 bedrooms, 3 bedrooms and 4 bedrooms, depending on how large the group may be. With very affordable rates, this vacation villa may just be the right option for those who are looking for a weekend away from all the buzz and hassle at home. We arrived at Subic Homes at around 3pm, a few hours late from our original intended arrival. I checked the group in and retrieved the keys from the main office. The main office looked like a house itself, fronted by a garage, a garden/yard and surrounded by trees. In front of the main office was their very homey-style pool. What I noticed and loved about Subic Homes was the fact that there were so many trees around the area, creating good shades, a healthy breeze and the perfect place to rest on a hot day. Our vacation villa at 72-B was a 3 bedroom villa located just at the side of the main office. When we entered,

White Rock Waterpark and Beach Hotel, Subic

White Rock Waterpark and Beach Hotel, Subic

Despite our desperate wishes, I wasn’t able to experience the inside of this resort. I was, however, fortunate enough to have been able to use their outside facilities. White Rock Waterpark and Beach Hotel is a 7 hectare area situated in Subic Bay. This highly desired destination in Subic boasts of its wide beach area, the stunning view of the Subic sunset and its mountain ranges. With 170 beachside and beachfront rooms, the hotel is complete with its waterpark – about 5-6 pools, including its kiddie pool, watersports facilities like kayaking, jetskiing, banana boats and island hopping, the resort-hotel is a dream vacation spot for families. The beach hotel is very much accessible from Manila, just a two hour drive via the expressways, 45 minutes from the Clark International Airport and 12 minutes from Subic’s Freeport, where attractions like the Ocean Adventure, Tree Top Adventure and Subic Safari are located. Just 20 minutes away, the Aeta villages can also be found north of White Rock. The fact that I only got to this place because it was part of our school tour made it impossible to have any other side trips in Subic (so yes, I’m still technically Subic-virgin), at least it had me smelling Subic’s air for the first time – and their beach. Entering White Rock Waterpark and
