I Traveled to Food

A Taste of Everything at Ginger’s Cafe Bistro

I gingerly poked around the salad bowl, like I usually do, when I’m mentally testing myself to get a piece. I get like this when eating anything super healthy. But I did, anyway, bringing a piece of lettuce and half grape onto my plate. I braced myself for a bit. And bit into the lettuce. Whoa. Wow. Now that is some kind of garden salad.

Famous especially for their delicious Classic Chicken Barbeque, the Aristocrat Restaurant, since 1936 has continuously been providing delicious dishes to the upscale community. With 10 branches in the Philippines, the Aristocrat restaurant brings its sophisticated menu and affordable dishes to those who love food for royalty. Over 75 years in the business and still, the hard work of Alex and Engracia “Aling Asiang” Reyes is still being celebrated in this indelible icon in the Filipino food industry. During our weekend in discovering the best places to hang and eat in Subic, Aristocrat restaurant was one of our destinations for extreme stomach orgasm. Served with the best dishes, we enjoyed a sumptuous meal that was greatly appreciated after being a few hours off-lunch time. We started our lunch with a delicious bowl of soup, ideal after a cool ride in a van. The famous Chicken barbeque was soft and tasty, especially when dipped in peanut sauce. The serving was also large, a whole chicken on a stick, accentuated with java rice on the side. Other dishes we enjoyed:       Besides a complete meal, we were also treated to their desserts, a definite plus for me because I got to taste their lecheflan – a famous Filipino dessert which I totally love.   I’m pretty sure Aristocrat was able to

I Want Te Quiero! A Spanish-Inspired Restaurant in Baguio City

Bored in Baguio? Been to Baguio so many times that you’ve hurt your reputation as a traveler? Have you tried almost every restaurant there? Are you looking for a new craving experience? Well, if you are, then there’s no better place to do that than in Te Quiero Tapas Bar and Restaurant, the new Spanish restaurant just beside the homey Microtel Inns and Suites in Baguio. Located just above the Victory Liner bus station, anyone can enjoy dinner there, just before taking off for Manila. One thing’s for sure, though. Your Baguio experience would never be complete without a taste of Te Quiero’s flavorful offerings. Small, but cozy, the restaurant offers diner-like tables with a view of the busy bus station. Décor inside consists of elegant designs, simple, but attractive wall embellishments and soft, romantic lights. Each dish costs about P125 above with beverages averaging at P50 onwards. Cocktails, beer and wine is also available at the restaurant. If my weak Spanish skills is correct, Te Quiero technically means I want you (or usually, I love you) in Spanish and this is definitely what you’ll feel after eating at the restaurant. While that sounds cliché, this time I truly mean it. Offering a variety of dishes in enhanced flavors, you will enjoy the delicious tastes of your favorite local dishes

La Marea Pastry Shop, Cebu

La Marea Pastry Shop, Cebu

If there’s one dessert stop in Cebu you cannot miss, its La Marea Pastry Shop in Cebu City. If you want to experience the most delicious desserts in your life, then you definitely have to drop by the Walk for a taste. Thanks to my interview with Edcel Suyo of Soloflighted, I was able to experience the delicious Warm Brownie Cup. I’ve read about the Warm Brownie Cup from many blogs and throughout my Bohol-Cebu trip, I thought I might not be able to get a taste of it because the family’s itinerary had been packed. Thank God for my extra day, right? So, when we settled outside the cozy, little dessert shop at the Walk, I almost forgot we were at one of the places I had been dying to go to! Courtesy of Doi Domasian and Edcel, of course, they gave me my first taste of the heavenly Warm Brownie Cup. At first look, you won’t really find anything special. Warm Brownie Cup just looks like a small chocolate cake, inside a cup, topped with vanilla ice cream, decorated with chocolate syrup. But when you get a taste of it, boy, that’s a different story. Taking a bite out of the Warm Brownie Cup is like plunging your teeth into a soft marshmallow, only this time, it was
