One of the fantastic things about being in the Philippines is that you don’t need to take long-haul flights to reach some of the most desirable holiday destinations. The Philippines is only seven hours from cities such as Sydney or Melbourne in Australia as well as just a few hours from the sights of China, Thailand and Japan. If you’re considering getting away to far-flung beauty spots on last minute holidays, take the time to research popular options such as Turkey and Egypt.

Hitting the Turkish beaches

Some of the most popular beach resorts in Europe can be reached from the Philippines within 10 hours. This may seem like a long-haul flight but when you touch down on Turkish soil (or sand!) you feel glad that you made the effort. Destinations such as Marmaris and Antalya offer some of the world’s best beaches, luxurious hotels and adrenalin-pumping water sports activities such as diving and wind-surfing. One of Turkey’s other plus points is that restaurants, entertainment and activities aren’t particularly expensive, which allows your to stretch your holiday finances even further (hooray!).

Sunsets and Romance

Setting sail for the pyramids

Viewing the ancient Egyptian pyramids as the sun sets is one of those unforgettable memories, but there’s much more to Egypt than ancient wonders. You can explore the beaches of Sharm el Sheikh, take an overnight trek to the top of Mount Sinai to watch the sunrise and take a hot air balloon over the Sahara Desert. Egypt offers historic cities such as Cairo and Alexandria where you can haggle at the bazars and go on excursions to view the Roman amphitheater. The country’s climate and its beaches make Egypt a hugely popular destination with tourists.

Flying to the world’s most popular cities

Australia is one of the world’s most popular destinations and this is mainly due to the diversity of holiday attractions. Filipinos can be enjoying adventure holidays in the Outback and exploring cosmopolitan cities such as Melbourne or Sydney within only seven hours of boarding a flight in Manila. If you’re looking for city destinations closer to home then Tokyo in Japan is only four hours away and a quick two hour flight will take you to China’s Hong Kong. Thailand’s Bangkok is extremely popular with tourists, and this quirky city, plus some of the most beautiful Thai beaches, are a mere three hour’s flight from the Philippines.

Not all those who wander are lost.

The Philippines is a smashing destination in itself which can serve as a gateway to other destinations that are a traveler’s dream. Take some time out to research them. After all, travel is about adventure and searching for the world’s wonders (and inside, taking them away with you).
