What is it that you look for in a hotel? Is it the comfort? The safety and convenience? Any of the above? Or more?
Because in my stay at Ibis Hotel Bencoolen, I definitely got all that I needed.
Located conveniently in Bugis Center, just a short walk away from Bugis Mall, Ibis Hotel Bencoolen stands right in front of a bus station. The building, sophisticated and about 10 floors high or more looked classy and very intimidating – especially for cheapskates. But what they don’t know is that Ibis Bencoolen is worth every dime spent.
The lobby is elegant, with its light cream colors, decorated with red couches and counter designs.
The check-in was easy and fast and I was given my key within 5 minutes.
What impressed me the most is the extra safety precaution at the elevator. Anyone without the right key cannot enter floors 4 and above where all the rooms are. This should prevent non-guests from getting to rooms where they shouldn’t be.
I was on the 8th floor and my room faced the street and overlooked a few buildings in Bugis area.
The room assigned to me had a cool, homey atmosphere with its cream walls and light brown colored furniture to further complement the interior design. It was homey and warm, with its yellow colored lights, a rather inviting gesture, especially for those coming home from a tiring day.
In the middle of the room was a very soft queen sized bed, equipped with 4 huge, very fluffy pillows that I truly appreciated (I love a bed full of pillows!) after a long bus ride from Malacca.
The bathroom was clean. It had a shower area, complete toiletries and sufficient towels. I had no problems with their hot shower too.
For business travelers, this room is also convenient because it has a work table facing the overlooking view. If I had to stay at Ibis Hotel Bencoolen for a month doing work, I would probably enjoy the view, more than the work I’m doing. Kidding. But, the view will definitely be a great inspiration.
Another feature of Ibis Bencoolen that I loved? It had strong wi-fi, a good set of outlets for charging cellphones and cameras and the best yet? – a USB charging port. And since I forgot the charger for my cellphones and only brought my data cable, it was one feature I really appreciated. These features are just some of the most useful features any blogger would enjoy.
On the entertainment side, Ibis Bencoolen was also very efficient, with their LED television and the internet terminals located at the lobby – just in case you forgot your laptop.
Of course, Ibis Bencoolen had the complete complimentary set – coffee, tea, sugar and a water boiler – a benefit for those who enjoyed coffee and tea at irregular hours of the day as coffee and tea were also provided at the buffet.
Yes, the breakfast buffet was one of the things I enjoyed the most at Ibis Bencoolen. With a wide selection of main dishes like eggs, sausages, noodles or rice, I was already satisfied.
But they also had chicken soup or porridge, a good selection of bread and fruits and cereal for those who don’t wish to have a heavy breakfast. It was heaven for me. I’m a real sucker for breakfast buffets.
So, would I recommend Ibis Hotel Bencoolen?
Yes. This hotel can give both business and leisure travelers the kind of comfort, safety and service they deserve.
