Saturday Secret for June 11, 2011

Have you ever been to Bahamas?

The beauty, the beach, the Bermuda Triangle, that place is absolutely gorgeous and it’s definitely on my list to visit in the future.

However, did you know?

This Saturday’s Secret is that…

There was once an undersea post office in the Bahamas!

Yes, folks, if today, it’s in to have underwater cameras, underwater hotels, underwater restaurants – you have all been neutered by the first underwater functional office – a POST office!

Established in 1939 to serve as a scientific facility, mail coming from the chamber had a very special postmark that had Sea Floor / Bahamas printed on it.

This underwater post office was opened by Captain J.E Williamson. The chamber was lifted in the late 1940’s.
