Apparently, that’s right! In Mexico and Nicaragua, the people believed that volcanoes were where their gods lived. Thus, to make their crops better and their harvest fruitful each year, they would have a young, beautiful girl sacrifice themselves as the people’s gift to the gods.

This case was also the legend of Mt. Pinatubo, where the people believed that a god lived inside the volcano. They were disappointed when the volcano erupted and were convinced that their god abandoned them.
